from the ´Oil + Water´ series (2014 - 2016)
a large ossuary of crude oil & river water taken directly from below the thick ice of the Yenesei river are frozen together in temperatures below minus 50 degrees. This is done in a field studio deep in the forests of Siberia specifically to enable a thermo dynamic process ´enthalpy of fusion´. Vast pressures are created inside the sculpture, resulting in unrepeatable gas formations, fissures & wax secretions that are then photographed on analogue film plates
framed in solid brass the patina of which will evolve over time
